Three Chimneys, Skye

Field, Edinburgh

Lovely food, small place only 25 covers and the tables are slightly too close for you to feel your conversation remains private.
My coffee was very good. The gazpacho and gaucamole less refined than I expected (I was thinking clear tomato consommé and deconstructed gazpacho) but still tasty. My duck main was very tasty and large in size. Natalie seemed happy with her dishes which were from the festival lunch menu. My chocolate and passion fruit delice was intense and good but too rich for us both to finish. The treacle tart was good and chewy and served as an individual tart.
I ate very well for £31 including 10% tip. You'd be lucky to have this as your neighbourhood local.

Hanoi Bike Club, Glasgow

I have had four very good lunches and one poor dinner here. This lunch was good. Tea smoked chicken salad, beef wrapped in betel leave, sesame crusted livers and barbecue chicken. My youngest had the chicken fried rice which was delicious and I would order that again.

Tapac24

We had a perfectly reasonable lunch here. We have been many times over the years so knew what to expect. I would not call it a destination spot anymore and if you go with that understanding you will probably enjoy your lunch more.

Tomasso Pizza, Barcelona

These guys make seriously good pizza. I am still thinking about that pizza now. I wish we had somewhere as good here in Glasgow. Handmade, wood fired, topped as you like, fresh, huge delicious.
I have my own oven and spent hours researching doughs and sauces and techniques so I am pretty fussy. This was good.

El Xampanyet

Another trusted favourite. Very busy with an extremely democratic waiting system we had one of the best dishes of the trip there- cerdo con pimientos delicious. We had two plates.

Granja Viader

Love this place. The leche mallorquina was a revelation why had I never thought of this before. And the fact that they invented a Cacolat our favourite chocolate drink helps too.

La Colmena

Is a treasure trove of sweet things. Unfortunately we had eaten so much that we couldn't face a meringue even though I had been thinking about them for months. I did buy a random selection of lovely biscuit and florentines to take back to the apartment.

Cremeria Toscana

Used to be my no 1 ice cream place until we tried de la cream. I would have to admit their coconut is better than de la cream. I love them both.

Cuitat Comtal, Barcelona

Large, busy, reliable, good with the kids.

Espai Kru

I thought this would be more funky and laid back. It was quite a elegant modern space with either well to do Barcelonians or Americans. The chefs were visible preparing dishes with very high quality fresh seafood. However nothing really makes me want to go back so I will put this in the category of Bar Canete in that I am glad I have scratched the itch.

Smoked anchovies

Oyster with tiger milk

- tomato tartare

Lobster salad/we ate an alien

Fried whole turbot with edible bones, very yummy

Forn la llibereria

This is a lovely bakery with a charming owner who has a funky sense of style and was very helpful. Beautiful artisan bread made fresh on site.
